We had heard good things about the food here so decided to give it a try last week while we were in the area. We were not disappointed! The proprietor was friendly, accomodating and hilarious! We could see the kitchen staff doing the final preparations on our order with care--the young man preparing a fish sandwich made sure he made it perfectly. We have to agree with the owner who described the onion rings as "the best ones around." The fish was excellent--crispy coating that was not at all greasy and the fresh-cut fries were delicious. The cole slaw was tasty too. The value for the price was great. We will be making the drive to Newmarket from now on when we want fish and chips.

What a treat it was to dine at J's Fish and Chips. We decided to give it a try when we became frustrated with service and quality of the other local fish and chip restaurant we frequented. We are so glad we did because the entire experience was AMAZING. Friendly staff!Amazing fish and chips with great value and portion size.To top it off , the owner (Jay) made it priority to come out from behind the counter and make sure we were pleasantly satisfied with the service. Best fish and chips in Newmarket hands down. Recommend the Halibut combo, inexpensive, fresh, and lightly battered. Their tartar sauce is the perfect compliment. Amazing service.
