I am sitting here writing this review on my first day of recovery from a revision Septoplasty (after breaking my nose subsequent to my first surgery) + Turbinate Reduction. Dr. Rival is very well known and "in-demand" for his rhino-septoplasty procedures. I had done a lot of research and was told to try my luck with him and the fact that he graciously accepted me as a patient speaks a lot about his character. This procedure was OHIP covered which is not something that majority of top surgeons are interested in. His clinic staff are also a blessing to work with. Caring, professional responsive and very reassuring. When in hospital, Dr. Rival checked in with me prior to my surgery in the waiting room and after my surgery in the recovery room. Speaking with him took away all of my stress and gave me a lot of confidence as he showed me that he truly cares, provided me with reassurance that he's gonna help me breathe better and proactively took time to show this. He even came and checked in with me to reassure me that everything went well in the recovery room, after my surgery. He is very professional and a great human being and there isn't too much proof you need to clearly see this. I wanted to make sure you know that people notice all these small details even if some don't get the opportunity to say it directly. Much respect to you and thank you Dr. Rival, Lyne, Mandy and entire team!
I got my rhinoplasty done about 6 years ago now, and I'm ready to write my review on the procedure, the clinic and the doctor. I had a bulbous tip and I concluded that Dr. Richard Rival was the best with working with bulbous tips as I had seen his prior work with similar noses and issues. I am happy with my nose, but, I do wish it was more defined in the tip. I do have a great side profile but the tip is still not as defined as I would have expected post surgery. Keep in mind that results may vary when you see them on socials, it doesn't mean yours can also replicate those afters. The clinic is great (the old Newmarket one as they have now moved to a medical centre and the new office is a bit (sorry in advance) "ghetto." HOWEVER, there is one lady at reception and she is very very rude and off putting. At one point the office was only booking appointments through email, and even via email, she was very rude. She is blonde and wears glasses from what I can remember. I would avoid her, even when wanting to do something as simple as booking an appointment. Lynn is a dream to work with, so sweet and such a great asset to have for any business. I'm not sure how the doctor is OK with staff like this, but, maybe they just don't know. Overall, I would recommend Dr. Richard Rival, however, I want to state the obvious that nobody's results will look like one another as we're all different and for you to not use his social media photos as your expectant results.
Had my Rhinoplasty with Dr.Rival July 24th 2025, and what an amazing job! My healing so far is amazing, I had very minimal bruising, and already after just two weeks I’m so happy with my results. Dr. Rival and his team truly are wonderful people. Thank you so much. If you’re thinking of getting any facial work done, he truly is the doctor you want.
Dr Rival is incredible. I am so happy I chose him as my surgeon. He listens, he’s kind, his staff is great. He gave me exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend him 100%. He’s the best. My advice would be to just do it. ? it’s totally worth it!
I’m Beyond Upset With Dr. Rival’s Office !! I had a Referral to have a Consultation with Dr. Rival because I’m having Severe Breathing Issues aswell as Severe Sinus Infections Over and Over Again .. I followed Up with Dr. Rival’s Office to see if I could be put on a cancellation list or when roughly I could be seen to find out Immediately I Would NOT BE SEEN AT ALL!! I’ve Researched Dr. Rival and have Read ALL of his Phenomenal Reviews and Ratings to Be Just Be Ignored I’ve Never been Treated like Garbage in my Life!!
He is the kindest with a least grid Doctor ever seen, matter of fact, I had to beg him to charge for the procedure he did for me. Extremity professional, kind and patient. I would suggest him in a heart beat.
EDIT 2023: Thought I should mention there is a slight bump on my nose that did not expect to have after the surgery. However, I have the option to do a smaller procedure to basically shave down the bump. I’m overall happy with the result but I still keep that in the back of my mind. I highly recommend you prepare yourself mentally as results are never as perfect as you have in your mind, and don’t get fixated on the small imperfections.. you WILL drive yourself crazy (personal experience). 2020: I want to say for anyone looking to have a surgery done with Dr. Rival, you can expect him and his team to make you feel comfortable and confident through the whole process. I had my Septorhinoplasty surgery done five weeks ago. My experience has been amazing starting from the consultation. Dr. Rival explained the process and goal/results of the surgery. Following the surgery, I didn't experience any pain at all, only some discomfort which is expected. As long as you follow the recommendations that help with the healing process, you will have a good recovery and future result. I still have a lot of time to go for the swelling to go down, but so far I'm very happy with the results. Dr. Rival was my first choice, and I made the right choice. His team is so supportive and accommodating. Shout out to Lyne for always being there for me to answer my questions and concerns! Definitely recommend to anyone!
