Exceptional store with tons of selection, good prices and really great service. I was at the store recently and purchased Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers Greatest Hits. When I opened the album to play, I immediately noticed that there was 3/8” notch on the starting ring of the record which would have likely damaged my stylus had I tried to play. Went back to the store to get a replacement or refund and either option was good with the store, no issue. There was another Petty album and when checked at the store we noticed more pressing issues with plastic overlapping the spindle hole and little “new tire nibs” protruding from the starting rings of both albums in the double set. The store offered a refund and I instead chose another three artists from the overstock display (3 for $100 - Alanis Morrisette’s Jagged Little Pill, Van Morrison’s Moondance and Tragically Hip’s Up To Here). All in all I’m quite pleased and will definitely be back to further enhance my collection!
Cool place with laid back atmosphere and great music! I'm nice, I'm treated nicely. I ask questions, staff answer. Don't know why people are so negative on these google reviews. Don't bring your bad vibes into one of the few cool places left in the mall and touch some grass or something
Go to check out the vinyl every so often and everytime I go not one employee greets me or even acknowledges me. I'd be ashamed to have employees that can't even lift there head and say hi to customers. Seriously concidering boycotting this store. Wish the Barrie store was still open they knew how to treat customers and make them feel welcome.
Always have a great shopping experience here but had to leave review for my last trip. Lined up early for record store day and had an amazing experience! The store opened at 10:00am, but the assistant manager Emin arrived at 8:30am. and asked every single person what they were looking for to make sure it was in stock. Both employees working that morning were a big help to everyone and despite the crowded store it was handled well. The 20% deal that day was also nice!
So good to see a record store in a commercial mall, especially in 2021. Was thoroughly impressed with the selection of CDs and vinyls! Ended up buying two vinyls, one 12" and one 7", as well as a CD. The staff were also extremely helpful and friendly! Will definitely be back.
Two things: The lady working here needs to wear a mask... And you can't have the UHDs hidden behind the counter covered with paperwork. I want to support sunrise records, but this is an absolutely awful in-store retail experience. In response to the comment below: UHD movies being left behind the counter as an anti-theft measure does you no benefit if the associate working at the store isn't encouraged to help you look for product. Nevermind that it doesn't make sense... why would $25 UHDs be locked up, when far more expensive product is on the floor? From my prior experience at Sunrise Records (Pickering location), the 4Ks were stocked and facing, totally available for me to browse by on my own. I walked around the Newmarket location three or four times thinking I had missed where they might be located. How many other customers would've left without asking someone? Keep in mind, I had cash in hand and wanted to spend it at the store. It's obvious that the best model for selling physical media is when customers can browse on their own, and for 99% of this store, you could (there's a reason why so many of us are nostalgic for Blockbuster). I bought five UHDs that day in Pickering, and I often shop at Bay Street Video, simply because I can browse their selection and buy movies I don't already have. This is all considering that the selection and pricing is vastly superior on Amazon and other websites (you guys are selling Disney UHD's $20 more than literally any other competitor...), but I, like many others, am willing to spend money to help support local retail. Even if that means I'm paying extra for it. Just put your UHDs out on display. Like anyone else who's buying movies, music, or games on physical media, I'm going to the retailer that offers the best selection, and not necessarily the best price. If I can't see the selection, and the prices aren't competitive...
Sunrise is one of the last, great, "record" store chains. They have a large selection of music, both CD and vinyl records, movies, posters, collectables and other, interesting items (see my picture I posted, a bar fridge that looks like an amp, for example). The store is bright, clean, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this store, even just to pop in and browse around, you never know what you will find.
