There is NO point in making an appointment. Their online system let you book an appointment and they are 15 mins apart. I booked an appointment early in the morning. I told the staff that I have an appointment yet she still put my paper work at the bottom on the stack of requisition so it's just first come first serve. And all the walk-ins got done before me. So there's no point in making a reservation, just try to go in as early as they open to avoid disappointment. Also, some staff maybe less experienced. For cases like veins not easily spotted they can take sooo long like 10 mins for a couple vials of blood draw. My husband went in 1-2 years ago and there was a chinese lady at the time that took his blood and after poking him for 4-5 times and then have him sit down have him lie down, nothing work and we end up just go without any blood drawn. With other experienced staff at other clinic, his blood can be taken smoothly. With my less visible veins, other labs can also take my blood quickly because of experienced staff. So it's also about luck, who do you get. Staff come and go and patient come and go so the experience and wait time can greatly vary too. This used to be a good lab when there was the experienced Filipinno lady who did all the work herself she checked in and take blood quickly but I haven't seen her there in a while. It used to be a good lab when it first opened and not many people knew about it. But not anymore. I did like the online portal for the results which show a bit of chart of analytics and stuff like how certain things changed compared to last time.
This morning I went to the laboratory. My doctor requested some blood work. I arrived early , there was a lady checking in people, it seemed to be moving slowly, when I was asked to go down to room 1. Now I understand why things were moving slowly. The lady from the front desk was doing everything. Checking in people, and running entire Laboratory. Hands down the best Performance that I ever seen. I do Appreciate everything that she does.
Don’t bother going here on a Saturday. They have one person working. Apparently, on weekdays when it’s not as busy, they have two people working. You’re just gonna waste your Saturday. Unless you’re there when they open. Even the staff person was complaining that she doesn’t get any help on Saturdays. She has to do the entries and take the blood work. Absolutely ridiculous. They should know a lot of people are working on weekdays and go on Saturdays. And I was fasting. What a waste of time.
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I just moved to Newmarket so I chose this lab based on reviews. Don’t know how this place has the highest reviews here. Something must’ve changed with staff or owners because my last 2 visits here have both been a waste of time. First time I arrived an hour before “closing” with 3 people in the waiting room and was told they didn’t have time to take me. Really? I’ve been to other labs that will take you right until the minute they close, or at least 15 minutes before. Then I found out they stop taking people at 3:30. If you’re going to have your staff refuse people 30 mins before closing then you should make that clear or change your closing time. Clearly understaffed and completely inconsiderate of patients. Second visit realized my requisite was expired so I called my doctors office to fax a new one over, which they did. The technician said it had to be in by 3:30 or she couldn’t take me. Well, she then left her desk right after that to help someone else (fair) but didn’t take a moment to come back and check on the fax She finally comes back to the desk at 3:25 and tells me she never got the fax. I call my doctors office in a hurry and they said they tried to fax it right away but the line was busy and it didn’t go through. Well if the technician had stayed by the fax machine she would’ve gotten it. Instead, she now told me it was too late and I was refused yet again because this place decides to lie about their closing time. I went to LIFE LABS after this and they were quick, HELPFUL and fantastic. PLUS FREE parking!!
Both my husband and I have been to this clinic several times for blood work and every experience has been the same. We have seen people yelled at, spoken to sharply without any kindness or respect, one was actually pushed out the door. On one occasion one of the staff turned the lights out and locked the door to prevent anyone else getting in. We sat in the dark awaiting our turn as people outside tried to enter. It’s great that you are able to book appointments online however it is extremely understaffed. The owners of this clinic should do more to ensure a safe and manageable work load as their current employees are frazzled to the point of rudeness and anger. We will look at other options in future.
We had an appointment for my 19 month old daughter at 3:30pm. We specified in the appointment that my daughter was 19 months old. My wife called the morning of the appointment to confirm that they were able to do blood work for a 19 month old today and they said they could. I showed up with my daughter and was told that they could not do the blood work as there was only one tech and we would have to come back another day. If they couldn't accomodate that day they should have called to let us know. This was extremely unprofessional. I wound up taking her to LifeLabs who could accommodate us on a walk in.
I did a couple of blood tests at this location of Med-Health Labs in Newmarket, ON, and one of them was a medication level that is very important for my serious health condition. 10 days later, I called to get the level, and it still was not ready ! 10 days! I was told by an abrupt receptionist on the phone that "it's not ready, and they sent it out to Dynacare Labs Brampton to be done." She didn't suggest checking on it for me or anything! I called Dynacare Labs in Brampton, and there was no answer at 9:50am that morning, and there was no answering machine to leave a message! I still have not received my medicine level, and I would not go back to this Med-Health Laboratory in Newmarket, Ontario ever again and would not suggest it.
