I love Select Art Galleries on Yonge Street in Newmarket and have been a happy customer over the last 20 years! I called in advance recently and spoke to Georgia about artwork for my bedroom as I needed an unusual size and something within my budget. Within an hour I arrived at the beautiful gallery and Georgia guided me through to show me what options I had. Regardless of your budget and requirements the options are endless in this exceptional museum of art. I want to thank and praise Georgia for her excellent customer service. I highly recommend Select Art Galleries for not only for their selection of artwork and expertise. They also have unique and high quality products for gifting and shopping needs. Thank you Georgia for all you do and for taking the stress out of my shopping experience! I am very grateful!
Roughly a year ago I had a water color framed. They did a nice job, I'm pleased with the results. It was quite expensive, at least 40% more than I expected based on having similar work done previously elsewhere. What I found most annoying was the owner trying to oversell me on other giftware whatnot in the showroom. Items that I have no interest in and when I decline or say no, I shouldn't have to repeat myself 3 or 4 times because the sales push doesn't stop. If the painting wasn't framed, ready to go and of high sentimental value, or if that sales push occurred when I picked out the frame and mat material, there's no way I would have got the work done there. Pushy people that try to up-sell me, are very annoying. For that reason I will never be there again.
Not a good place to get a picture framed. They were told how I wanted it framed(with the artists name visible) they called and said they wanted to cut the original, I told them no, they said they could do exactly what I wanted and they quoted me a price. Then when it came back to me it was framed wrong not showing the name of the artist, I called them and they said I had to call the framer, I spoke to the framer that said he was told to leave the artist name under the frame by the person I spoke to. When I called the store again they just told me it was too bad, no one wrote down what we talked about and that there was nothing they would do about it. I would not recommend them to anyone and if you do go there be sure to protect yourself and get written and signed copies of your instructions, don't trust that they will stand behind their work.
Very knowledgeable and helpful owners and staff. Framing very nicely done. A very interesting gallery to wander around in and a great gift selection in upper section!
